WAR FLOWERS:
A TOURING ART EXHIBITION
(2017–2020)
EXHIBITION | Produced by Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens

"WAR Flowers" is inspired by the pressed flowers George Stephen Cantlie picked in the gardens, fields and hedges of Europe during World War I for his baby daughter, Celia, in Montreal. This touring art exhibition examines these century-old flowers using floriography, a method of communicating emotion through flowers, to tell the story of human nature in the landscape of war.
CARRICKS, DANS LE SILLAGE DES IRLANDAIS
(2017, CARRICKS, IN THE WAKE OF THE IRISH)
DOCUMENTARY | Produced by Tortuga Films Inc.

In 1847, the Carricks sank off the coast of the Gaspé Peninsula. The ship was carrying 187 Irish passengers and… a violin marked “Stradivarius.” Now, the bones of lost children come to light, appearing like ghosts on the Cap-des-Rosiers Beach — but to whom do they belong? This film looks at the identity of the Quebec people, from the name of an immigrant family, to the identity of deceased children, and to the origin… of a violin.

AFTER CIRCUS (2016)
DOCUMENTARY | Produced by Tortuga Films Inc.
For decades, we have fantasized about fleeing our problems and running away with the circus, but few of us give a second thought about what happens to performers “off the wire” after spending their lives entertaining and inspiring us. This film takes a unique look at a tightly-drawn community in Sarasota, Florida, one with a deep value system that seems almost out of place today.

At Melki, we develop high-quality creative content for Canadian and worldwide audiences. Our films and museum exhibitions are character-driven stories that shed light on, and acknowledge all aspects of the human experience.
